Dr. Aklilu Habte and and his wife Selamawit Wolde-Amanuel arrived in Addis Abeba in January 2022 for a month long visit.  In addition to their joyful reunions with family and friends, they were occupied with many events celebrating Dr. Aklilu's achievements.

The visit started with the premier of a documentary of Dr. Aklilu's life that was produced and directed by Dr. Yohannes Zeleke. Dr. Zeleke is a Research Associate at the The National Museum of Natural History Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. At the premier, Dr. Aklilu was honored by comments made by special guest speaker Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde. See President Zewde's official Facebook Post about the Dr. Habte and the event.

Subsequently Meaza Biru interviewed Dr. Aklilu (for Sheger FM 102.1 Radio) on his long career--spanning nearly 4o decades--in service to the advancement of education in Ethiopia and globally.  The interview was aired in four segments over two weeks, and followed by two more segments that re-aired portions of her 2018 interview with Dr. Aklilu that took place soon after his book was released.

Dr. Aklilu was also interviewed by Rafotoel Worku for Arts Tv World. They discussed Ethiopia's education system and Neo-colonialism. Arts Tv World also filmed and aired Dr. Aklilu's visit to Lebawi Academy where his contributions to education were recognized.
